WHY ARE YOU AN ARCHITECT?
I worked as a laborer for my father in high school and it was a difficult job that I didn’t enjoy. I enjoyed looking at blueprints and imagining what the spaces could be. I soon realized that I didn’t want to be the one that built, but be the one who designs what could be built.
Casey Smith received a Bachelor of Architecture from Fairmont State University in 2009 and a Master of Architecture from Boston Architectural College in 2014. Casey’s thesis entitled "Wayfinding: a spatially experienced journey through landmarks" received the highest honor as Best of Thesis in his graduation class of the Distance M.Arch in May 2014. His explorations began with understanding how space was experientially understood in rural and urban conditions and translated this understanding to a design of a Rehabilitation Center in West Virginia. His work was also selected to be exhibited in a Student Design Showcase at the Boston Society of Architects of the best student work of local schools.
As a consultant at meander Casey has work on various project creating construction documents and 3d visualizations for clients. Casey really enjoys this process as it allows the client to see what their new space or building will look like. Casey also has been a teaching assistant, guest critic and reviewing portfolios at the Boston architectural College since 2014
