Meghan McNamara

WHY ARE YOU AN ARCHITECT?

I spent my childhood building forts of all scales, some for my dollhouse dolls, others for my sister and me.  The imagination, creativity and determination found in my childhood play evolved into an inclination towards design and architecture.

Meghan brings a broad range of design and construction experience to Meander Studio.  She has worked with a variety of people, from small non-profits to ivy league schools, helping each client solve specific problems with creative design solutions.  Her experience in construction ranges from swinging a hammer to overseeing the construction of a large, complex science lab renovation.  Her vested interest and curiosity in how a building is put together translates back into her design process and attention to detail at all scales.
As part of the faculty at the Boston Architectural College, Meghan has taught in both the Architecture and Practice departments.  In her courses she explores the critical balance between programmatic organization and material and tectonic relationships.
Meghan is a registered Architect in the state of Massachusetts and holds a MArch from the University of Michigan and a B.S. in Architecture from Roger Williams University.  During her studies she focused on design that operates on multiple scales and engaged the public realm, from infrastructure to installation art.  These continue to be areas of curiosity and inspiration as she navigates the profession of architecture
